Scottish Strength in the Heart of Saxony
Welcome to our Kilt’N’Strong website.
On June 28, 2025, the Altenhof Highland Games took place for the fifth time. Once again, it was a celebration!
We would like to thank the visitors, athletes, helpers, sponsors, and everyone who was there for this unforgettable day.
Our congratulations go not only to Johan Langhorst and Sina Ruppenthal, the winners of this year’s Kilt’N’Strong competition—every athlete delivered outstanding performances that left the crowd in awe time and again.
Highland Games Ohrdruf – We’re speechless – What an awesome weekend!
On August 2 and 3, the first Highland Games were held in Ohrdruf. It was a celebration with an incredible atmosphere! Many thanks to everyone who spent two wonderful days with us.
Congratulations to Glenn Nys from Belgium, who won Saturday’s Open Heavy competition. We also congratulate Josef Hojdar, who delivered an impressive victory in our Kilt’N’Strong competition on Sunday.
Now things are coming thick and fast!
For the third time, we’re honored to be part of the big Highlander family in Trebsen. The International Highland Games Trebsen will take place from September 19 to 21, 2025. Our Strongman competition on Saturday after the team events has already become a tradition.

On Sunday, the classic Highland Games will be contested in the Open Heavies, Masters, and Women’s divisions.
Of course, our Caber Challenge and our Free Beer Challenge will be back as well, and we’re looking forward to seeing you.
Preparations are already underway, and the first “regulars’ table ideas” are already in the works. 😉
Stay tuned!
We’ll see you on September 20 and 21 in Trebsen!

Traditional Heavy Events of the Highland Games
Highland Games are Scottish festivals with a tradition going back hundreds of years. They originated from the gatherings of the Scottish clans. The Games feature a wide range of events such as running, jumping, tug-of-war, strongman contests, dancing, piping – and of course, the iconic Heavy Events.
The Classic Heavy Events Disciplines
Stone Put (Open Stone, Braemar)
Similar to shot put – a stone is thrown either from a run-up (Open Stone) or from a standing position (Braemar).
Weight for Distance
A weight attached to a chain is swung and thrown for maximum distance.
Hammer Throw
The hammer (a ball with a fixed handle) is swung overhead and thrown backwards from a fixed stance for distance.
Weight for Height
The weight is thrown one-handed over a set height.
Caber Toss
The most spectacular discipline – a roughly 6 m (20 ft) long log weighing between 60 and 90 kg is lifted vertically and flipped end over end.
KILT'N'STRONG Competition
KILT'N'STRONG is a mix of Highland Games and Strongman – a competition made for the “big guys.”
In six disciplines, the athletes determine their champion. Alongside the three Highland Games events – stone put, weight for height, and caber toss – competitors also take on Strongman disciplines such as log lift, car deadlift, and farmer’s walk.
Log Lift
A heavy log is lifted from the ground and pressed overhead, similar to Olympic weightlifting.
Car Deadlift
A car, mounted in a special frame, is lifted off the ground by the athlete.
Farmer’s Walk
Two heavy “suitcases” are carried over a marked course for distance or time.
